Heat pumps extract heat form the outside air and bring it into your home using only electricity. They work like reversed refrigerators and pass the air through a series of small tubes that effect an energy transfer from hotter to colder. True zero is actually -270 degrees celsius, so even at -10 or 0 degrees celsius there is still plenty of energy that can be condensed and aggregated without issue.

Yes. Many of the current models can perform at temperatures up to -20 degrees celsius. The higher up the UK we install, especially into Scotland, the more we are likely to specify particular models that can operate at lower temperatures. On the south coast, the temperature difference means that usually all heat pumps will work well.
A lot of the issues new installs have is to do with correctly balancing the system. In the north of England and Scotland, the use of low loss headers to allow a faster flow rate around the property is often all that’s needed to allow the ambient temperatures to function normally using your existing radiators. These are things you only learn from experience of installs and actual usage data. That’s why Clementine is a good choice of installers and servicing contractor.
It depends on their age and type. Usually you need at least Duo Convector Type 22 radiators or better to get the optimum performance from your heat pump. If there is space, alot of customers choose to leave their existing boiler in as a back-up although this may not be viable in most homes. A free survey will be able to give you a definite answer.
Heat pumps work at a lower temperature, so are perfect in partnership with underfloor heating systems which tend to operate at a lower flow temperature than most radiators. There are system adjustments we can make that get the best out of your existing set up.
